Dance of the Jewellery Box - Archway Melodies

Dance of the Jewellery Box
Dance of the Jewellery Box is a short two-part piece that was composed with the purpose to be easy to learn. It is playable on any instrument that has a least a one octave (C-C) range, with no “black” notes. I happened to use, and be inspired by, a small Celtic-type harp, but anything will do.

The piece uses repetition of patterns as it basis, so once a pattern is learned, that learning can be used again and again as the work progresses. Once the two halves of the tune are played they are then used together, with perhaps some minimal variation, to make a piece that has some substance to it.

It is scored one-octave diatonic glockenspiels in two parts.

Both parts provide a reasonable challenge, both requiring the same skill level.
